IN NUMBERS 25:12 WE FIND A PECULIAR LETTER IN THE WORd SHALOM FOR ITS FRASE “ COVENANT OF PEACE” OR BRIT SHALOM.
NOTE THE את ( ALEF TAV) WHEN IT SAYS, “I GIVE UNTO HIM (את) MY BRIT SHALOM:” IN THAT WORD SHALOM WE FIND A VAV BUT ITS NO ORDINARY VAV… in fact it is a broken vav, almost as if it is two yod’s. could have this been a mistake? did the writer of badmibar run out of ink and forgot to fill in the missing piece of the vav? suprisingly many Torah books have it included in their segment of badmidbar 25:12.
THERe are so many places in the tanakh where we find neat and peculiar hints. remez is the Hebrew word for “hint” and it refers to a hidden message or a deeper meaning in Hebrew hermeneutics/interpretation of scripture. remez is used to help understand the larger point the scriptures are trying to point to or make. this broken vav is no different, it Points out something great and very prophetic.
the covenant of peace here in the book of numbers (badmidbar) 25:12 explains that yahuah our creator in the word brit or covenant (bara-it) epxplains the following. bara means “to create” or “creater” and “it” is a mark or a sign. in essence the covenant of peace means that yahuah would create a mark of peace or a sign of peace. In the book of Isaiah chapter 9 verse 6 we find an interesting phrase. The child that was to be born would be given to us a son , he would be called wonderful counsellor the mighty el the everlasting ab the prince of peace! Ha shar shalom!! This child would be the prince of peace! The one who would bring peace to this world! We know this child as our messiah : Yahushua hamashiach!!! In this prince of peace we would also find as Isaiah 53:5 mentions in the prophetic text, that this child at some point would become a man and he would be wounded for our transgressions and bruised (broken) (daka’) for our iniquities!!
this prince of peace was to at some point in his adulthood be broken for out iniquities! This broken VAV in the word brit shalom found in badmidbar 25:12 is not only broken but it is also silent! Our messiah yahushua was silent until being put on a steak! Isaiah 53:7 also mentions, “he was oppressed and afflicted (broken) yet he did not open his mouth: he was led like a lamb to the slaughter house, and as a sheep before its shearers is silent, so he did not open his mouth.” This broken VAV is a silent vav.!
Before going into the remez (hint) of the broken vav in badmidbar (numbers) 25:12 lets rewind to badmidbar (numbers) 21:8-9 when Moses is told by yahuah to make a brass fiery serpent on a pole. The word for serpent or snake is nachas which totals 358 in gematria. Nun= 50 Chet= 8 shin= 309=358… the same gematria for mashiach mem=40 shin= 300 yod=10 chet=8=358… how is this possible? What does the snake have to do with messiah?
Before we answer that question, lets fast forward to badmidbar 25:12 again, revisitting the silent vav but this time , focusing on to whom this covenant of peace was given to… pinchas! Pinchas is derived from two Hebrew root words… peh= mouth and nachas= serpent or snake… giving its definition as a mouth of a serpent. Pinchas a man zealous of yahuah and his rightousness!! Before we dig any deeper , lets talk about this silent vav… not only is it broken it is silent as well.
there are 70 locations in the Tanakh where the word shofar appears. One of the first times it is used it was during the revelation of the Torah in mt Sanai. It is spelled without a vav… although its not the actual word shofar it uses the word yavel which is a high pitch of tune and long. It is found in exodus 19:13 it is spelled with a yod, bet, lamed… the actual word should have been spelled yod, vav, bet, lamed. It has no vav.. silent…. Yavel is in short for jubilee. The year of jubilee. Where the shofar is sound loud and long high pitch called yavel!
In daniel 6:1 the word shofar is used for the word pleased and Also is missing a vav. Instead of a shin, peh, vav, resh… it is spelled shin, peh, resh… silent vav… Daniel 3:32 and 4:24 both have the word shofar as well with the silent vav.
Shofar is a mouth peace and in this case no vav is present making it a perfect mouth piece! Although pinchas means mouth of a snake, he was a perfect mouth piece Like Mashiach!! Our advocate, the one who defends us to make atonement for us! Pinchas who is identified like Eliyahu, the one who would usher mashiach in the final messianic redemption (2nd coming) (Mashiach Ben David) who then yohannan would prepare a way for mashiach!
When eliyahu comes to usher mashiach return as Ben David, this broken vav will no longer be broken but restored, ressurected, and according the commentary on the broken vav, it is not until messiah comes that in every Torah that vav will be made whole, and true shalom (peace) will reign! A true covenant of peace will reign for a thousand years in a new heaven and earth! As long as true Israel lives in exile it will never know true shalom! True peace! It will never find complete peace! Only then until that vav that broken man is perfected! Just like that serpent was put high and lifted on a pole, so wAS YAHUSHUA HAMASHIACH PUT ON HIGH ON A STEAK AND BEHOLD, “JUST AS MOSES LIFTED up the serpent in the wilderness, so the son of man must be lifted up that everyone who believes may have eternal life.”
